May 2019 had the warmest nights

The month began warm, with the night of the 2nd being, at 18.0°, the warmest May night of the new century. There was a second warm spell nearly four degrees above normal about the 20th.
The first frost (by my reading) came on the 12th of May this year, and on the 15th of May last year. The middle date of first frost is May 13th.
There were three rain days (usually four) but nearly all the rain (61 mm) was recorded on the 4th.

Comparing May months

The mean temperature this month (14.6°) was high, but not as high as in May 2007 (15.1°). However, the mean daily minimum temperature (8.1°) was the warmest for May in the new century: above normal by 2.3°.
A rather narrow daily temperature range (13.1°) and high percentage of cloudy days (45%) showed moisture above normal.
The (estimated) rainfall total of 61.8 mm was very high, in the 75th percentile. Because no rain at all had fallen in April, the total for the two months together reached only to the 26th percentile.

Data. A Bureau of Meteorology automatic rain gauge operates in the museum yard. From 17 March 2017, 9 am daily readings are published as Manilla Museum, Station 55312.  These reports use that rainfall data when it is available.  Since no 9 am readings have been recorded since August 2018, I have substituted my non-standard gauge readings for all days.

June 2015 rather wet

The first week of June was cold but sunny, the second warm, and the rest not quite so warm. Rain registered (unofficially) on the 17th was 54.5 mm. That was close to the record June day of rainfall at Manilla Post Office: 55.1 mm on 18/6/1930.
The early morning minimum of the 17th was extremely warm, at 12.8°: the fifth warmest for June. There were 12 frosts (as usual) but none was severe. On two mornings, fog persisted past nine o-clock.

Most monthly averages were near normal. Daily minima were up one degree, and morning dew points down one degree.
While lower than in June 2013, the total rainfall of 74.4 mm is high: in the 82nd percentile. Among rainfall totals for more than one month, there are no serious shortages. The lowest percentile value (11th) is for the 24-month total of 996 mm.

Warm February 2011 with a very wet day

Several Mondays and Tuesdays this month were cool, while most other days were warm. Nights in the first week were warm, lifting the seven-day average. Three nights in the last week were very cool, at a time of very dry air.
Rain on the 7th (15.4 mm) ended a three-week dry spell, but really heavy rain was recorded on the 14th. That reading of 74.2 mm was the 29th heaviest daily fall in more than a century.

Mean maximum, mean, and minimum temperatures and mean soil temperature were all about a degree above average. The mean Dew Point was average, and cloudiness high (54%).
The rainfall of 102.6 mm is in the 77th percentile for February, far above the long-term average of 67 mm. Rainfall totals for groups of months are very high: above the 70th percentile for all periods up to 15 months, and above the 90th percentile for periods of 4-, 5-, and 6-months.
