Photo of the tiny blossoms of the Wilga, an Australian shrub

Wilga blossoms in June

Manilla is in the centre of the range of this large attractive native shrub, the Wilga. It is in the citrus family Rutaceae. Part of its scientific name, Geigera parviflora, means “small flowers”. You can see that: these flowers are only 5 millimetres across. The long drooping dark-green leaves, and the bark smell pleasant; the flowers not so much! Blowflies like them.
